Go To - You Are Here Universe   Our Galaxy, the Milky Way, contains some 200 to 400 billion stars, makes one revolution every 250,000 years and is approximately 16 billion years old.  Our Solar System lives on the outer fringes of a spiral arm.
IF you were to travel at the speed of light (186,287 miles per second)
(you could circle the earth at the equator 7.5 times in 1 second at that speed),
it would take 100,000 years to get to the other side of the galaxy.  Better take a sack lunch.
